There is no way you can satisfactorily cover all that a country as huge and varied as South Africa has to offer on a website. And if we tried, the good places would get hidden amongst the not-so-good.

Of course, what turns you on may not be someone else's cup of tea - so any list is highly subjective. We've tried to provide varied lists for all budgets and preferences, but get in touch with us so we can tailor our recommendations to your needs.

So we’ve created lists of our top fives.  At Satpack Travel, we simply love lists. We love compiling them. We love agonising over them… We love changing them. We could have added a lot more than five, but this misses the point of a recommendation.

Top Five Most Visited

We couldn’t only cover the places we really like because we know that most tourists go to some places we don’t rate – for example they stop at a places like Knysna and they stay in Sandton when in Johannesburg. So we’ve covered them under our ‘Most Visited’ lists. We give our brutally honest assessment of where we think is worthy of your hard-earned dollars in the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga & Safari and other regions of Southern Africa.

Top Five Off-the-Beaten-Track

We also recommend ‘off-the-beaten-track’ places that we like but that don’t make it onto most visitors' itineraries. Yet. Here we only list our absolute favourites in the Western Cape, the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga & Safari and other regions of Southern Africa.
