South Africa has become one of the top golfing destinations in the world, popular for it’s immaculate and challenging courses in spectacular countryside at a fraction of the price of more developed countries.

There are many excellent travel agencies specialising in organising golfing holidays and if golfing is all you want to do in South Africa, we suggest you deal with them directly.

Any self-respecting list of the top golf courses will include the ‘greats’ – The Links and Montagu (George), Arabella (near Hermanus), Pinnacle Point (Mossel Bay), Pearl Valley (near Franschhoek), Gary Player (Sun City), Zimbali (45KM north of Durban) and Leopard Creek (near Kruger National Park).

But here we present seven alternative golf courses outside of the Western Cape that we’ve played and believe are also of a very high standard, but also a lot cheaper and easier to get a tee time than those listed above.
