We’re going to cheat a bit here…
Isn’t it ironic that we can’t find a Big Five to see ‘The Big Five’?
You simply can’t reduce the enormous range of safari alternatives in South Africa to such a short list. There’s so much choice and your best will be very different to someone else’s, depending upon your budget, where you plan to go in South Africa, what it is you want to see and the season in which you are here.
So we’ve divided our safari selection into two categories – the Most Visited and Off-the-beaten-track - along with things to see and do in Mpumalanga Province, home to most of the mighty Kruger National Park.
Remember, there’s no easier way to save money on a trip to South Africa than to look to those game reserves and lodges that are less popular with international tourists. In our opinion these provide a more authentic, a more ‘in the bush’ experience but this doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice luxury or the chance to encounter the Big Five.
